Product Description

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was a German World War II fighter aircraft designed by Willy Messerschmitt in the early 1930s. It was one of the first true modern fighters of the era, including such features as an all-metal monocoque construction, a closed canopy, and retractable landing gear. The Bf 109 was produced in greater quantities than any other fighter aircraft in history, with 30,573 units built alone during 1939-1945. Fighter production totalled 47% of all German aircraft production, and the Bf 109 accounted for 57% of all fighter types produced. The Bf 109 scored more aircraft kills in World War II than any other aircraft.

The first Bf 109 model that went into serial production, the Bf 109B "Bruno", was fitted with the 670 PS (660 hp, 493 kW) Jumo 210D engine driving a two-bladed fixed-pitch propeller. During the B-1 production run a variable pitch propeller was introduced and often retrofitted to older aircraft, these aircraft were then inofficially known as B-2. Both versions saw combat with the Condor Legion during the Spanish Civil War, in the process demonstrating that the armament was still inadequate. Several aircraft were produced with an engine-mounted machine gun but it was very unreliable again, most probably due to engine vibrations and overheating. Thus the Bf 109 V8 was constructed to test the fitting of two more machine guns in the wings. In the following V9 prototype both wing guns were replaced by 20 mm MG FF cannons. 341 Bf 109B of all versions were built by Messerschmitt, Fieseler and Erla.

The model is fully rigged for animation, and the product contains four highly detailed and textured resolutions of the model. This version features the camouflage scheme used during the Spanish Civil War.

This model is a 3DMax model, saved in version 8 as a MAX file, and requires 3DMax. It does not include any other formats to allow it to be opened in any other software. The model is rigged where appropriate, and mapped and textured.
