The Dromedary Camel (Camelus dromedarius) (often referred to simply as the "Dromedary") is a large even-toed ungulate native to northern Africa and western Asia, also the land of the African Horn, Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia. Yet, the world`s only population of wild dromedaries are in Australia.
It is also the best-known member of the camel family. Other members of the camel family include the llama and the alpaca in South America. The dromedary camel has one hump on its back, in contrast to the Bactrian Camel which has two. The dromedary is sometimes called an Arabian Camel.
Although there are several other camelids, the only other surviving species of true camel today is the Bactrian Camel. The dromedary is taller and faster: with a rider they can maintain 8-9 mph (13 - 14,5 km/h) for hours at a time. By comparison, a loaded Bactrian camel moves at about 2.5 mph (4 km/h). Most military or police use of camels therefore uses the dromedary.
The model is rigged for animation, and the product contains four detailed and textured resolutions of the model.
This model is a 3DMax model, saved in version 7 as a MAX file, and requires 3DMax or Gmax to open the model. It does not include any other formats to allow it to be opened in any other software. The model is rigged where appropriate, and mapped and textured.
