These are clusters of .45 (Automatic Pistol) and 5.56 (Assault Rifle) spent shells arranged in different patterns on the floor. Each of the shells can be moved or rotated individually, giving you thus maximum control over the patterns you want to make. If you want to move a cluster in block then you need to parent all shells to one (ie Shells 2, 3,4, 5,6 to Shell 1) and move the parent, the rest will follow. You can also save the parented patterns and use them in later scenes.
