Kira Dray was artificially created to be the ideal humanoid assistant for the R-9 colonies: intelligent, graceful, tireless, and capable of solving problems beyond ordinary human limits. Her AI learned rapidly, adapting not only to tasks but also to human emotions and behavior.
Yet the better Kira became, the more people despised her. Her creators had designed her to be everything they admired, but her perfection became a mirror reflecting their own flaws and insecurities. They treated her with contempt, not because she had failed them, but because she reminded them of what they could never be.
